NDC To Aabandon Metro TV Boycott?

The governing National Democratic Congress says it is considering, rescinding its decision not to make a representation on Metro TVs Good Morning Ghana show. The party accused Accra based Metro TV of conspiring with some persons close to the opposition New Patriotic Party's flagbearer to muscle-out NDC representatives from the stations Good Morning Ghana programme. The Chief Executive Officer of the Free Zones Board, Kojo Twum Boafo alleged that the programmes Producer bowed to pressure from the Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Asare 'Gabby' Otchere-Darko, to prevent him (Mr Twum Boafo) from appearing on the Thursday July 21 edition of the programme. The party thus threatened to boycott the programme indefinitely and as threatened the party boycotted the Friday edition of the programme with NPP communications Director, Nana Akomea as the only guest on the show with host Shamima Muslim. In an interview with Deputy Minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah disclosed to Citi News that the party plans to review its earlier decision. He said the Chief Executive of Metro TV, Talal Fatal has apologised to government and hopes that the NDC would be able to settle its differences with the station and likely revoke the boycott. So far we have received calls from the Chief Executive and owner of Metro TV, Mr Talal Fatal, he has apologised to government and the NDC. He has even called up other high officials of the government because he thinks that what happened is not fair to the NDC. We will go into a meeting later this evening (Thursday July 21) and review our decision and what we decide would be communicated. However, the Deputy Director of Metro TV Alhassan Haruna who is alleged to have masterminded the move maintains that he cannot be blamed for Thursdays incident. According to him, he does not interfere in the selection of guests who appear on Metro TVs Good Morning show and described as very unfortunate, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa's continued indictment of him in the incident.
