J.Js Warning Should Not Cause Fear - Victor Smith

Ghanas Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Emmanuel Victor Smith has described comments by the NDC party founder, Jerry John Rawlings, on BBC as unfortunate. The former aid to the ex-president said the party need not panic over the interview but stay strong to prepare for the general elections. Former President Rawlings on BBC Thursday predicted grave consequences for the ruling party in the general elections as a result of fallouts from the party's Sunyani congress. This is the first public pronouncement of the former president after his wife and former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings lost the race to lead the NDC as flagbearer. He told the BBC that the government orchestrated the unfortunate hooting of Nana Konadu at the congress and will pay for it. However Ambassador Smith believes the statement by the former president was borne out of pain of losing in Sunyani. Mr. Rawlings strongly rejected insinuations that he had taken the party as a family property, saying that could only be the thought of little minds. When asked if he and his wife will campaign for the NDC, he said they have taken a break to do what he described as serious thinking. Mr Smith down played the possibility of the party founder leaving the party as speculated by some people.
