DCEs Intimidating Delegates By Telling Them They Are Being Monitored On CCTV J J

Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings says the freedom being enjoyed by Ghanaians now is extremely fragile because the NDC has failed to deal with the initial foundation of our survival. Former President Rawlings who was addressing party delegates at the partys congress to elect the partys flagbearer for election 2012 stated emphatically that the NDC as given refuge and embolden the people who perpetuated crime in this country. According to him, the institutions that we look up to protect our freedom and justice have failed to deal with the foundation of our survival. We are not free; the freedom you think we are enjoying today is extremely fragile. We failed to deal with the initial foundation for our survival and that is the institutions we look up to protect our freedom and justice. We have rather given refuge to some of those elements who perpetrated crime and made no effort to investigate them and have rather embolden them that today they hold the upper hand in those very institutions with impunity, he stated. He called for a competent investigation that will provide evidence for a successful prosecution, stressing that he is not insisting that people should be arbitrarily jailed. No one has said people should be arbitrarily arrested and thrown into jail. As guilty as we know they are, a competent investigation will provide all the evidence for a successful prosecution. So I ask again, where is the future in the freedom we think we are enjoying today? No wonder we are in power but they are still in control of the judiciary and some of the strategic economic enterprises, he added. He urged the delegates to demonstrate high level of courage and honor to the NDC and Ghana as a whole by making choices based on facts and principles not political intrigues, threats and fear of retribution, stressing that no amount of money or intimidation has ever beaten the force and power of conviction in the PNDC and the NDC. "DCEs are intimidating delegates by telling them their actions are being monitored by CCTV camerasDont allow the financial inducements to undermine your convictions. Make a choice based on the facts and principles," he claimed.
