The ruling NDC is weaker in government than when in opposition, says its Deputy General Secretary and spokesperson for the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams. �The NDC of old, of dynamism, of vim is giving way to becoming a weak party in government. We are becoming weaker than we were in 2008; we were very strong in opposition,� he added. According to him, the government is weak because President J.E.A. Mills is presiding over a corrupt government and has abandoned the many campaign promises they made to Ghanaians during their campaign in the 2008 elections. The NDC in their campaign in 2008 elections promised to prosecute corrupt government officials in the erstwhile Kufuor led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, to set up an independent and competent presidential committee of inquiry to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the late Dagbon overlord Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II in March 2002, and to reduce the prices of petroleum products drastically no matter how much crude oil would cost on the international market. But almost two and half years in government, most of these promises are yet to be fulfilled. Speaking on Asempa FM on Friday, Kofi Adams stressed that the party which went into government very focused, united and determined to change the lives of Ghanaians is now divided and visionless. He said the recent demonstrations by fishermen and at the labour front across the country is a testament of the Mills-led administrations inability to deliver on the Better Ghana Agenda. The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC noted that the party needs a strategic candidate like the former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to restore hope and dignity to the NDC and rejuvenate the ideals of probity, accountability, freedom and justice on which the party was formed. He observed that the party would be heading back into opposition if they vote for President Mills to lead the party again in election 2012. Kofi Adams urged party delegates to vote massively for Mrs. Rawlings who is the best candidate to retain power for the NDC in the 2012 general elections.
