The 3000 Delegates Would Not Be Fooled - Spokesperson

With just days to the NDC congress to elect a flagbearer ahead of the 2012 general elections, the spokesperson for the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams has predicted that the over 3,000 delegates would not be fooled by the bait being offered by the Mills camp and would elect former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings to lead the party. Mr Adams believes the delegates are ready for a unifier and a leader who will build party structures rather than destroy them. Per the NDCs constitution, the flagbearer is also the leader of the party. We are convinced that the NDC delegates want a unifier, somebody who understands the workings of a political party and therefore will build party structures rather than abandoning them. I know the person who would emerge on that day is Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings he told Citi News on Monday July 4, 2011. According to Mr Adams, who is also a Deputy General Secretary of the governing party, the NDC delegates have been disillusioned and felt unwanted over the two and a half years of President Mills governance and all indicators show that the delegates will vote for Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings to lead the party ahead of the 2012 elections. All the delegates know that for the two and half years that this government has been in power, it was more like they never existed. The only time they are being visited is because of this contest and even it is because Nana Konadu has picked forms. So they will not be fooled, they are going to take that wise decision because they want somebody who would forever be committed and loyal to the partys cause. He accused the Mills campaign team of employing dirty tactics against the Konadu campaign team in order to frustrate its members despite their candidate having the benefit of incumbency. This was a clear indication that the campaign team had no message for the electorate because their candidate had failed to deliver, he opined. Mr Adams dismissed suggestions that the absence of former President Jerry John Rawlings in the lead up to the Sunyani congress would negatively affect his wifes bid to lead the NDC into election 2012, arguing that the campaign was not molded on anybody else but the candidate. The NDC National Delegates Congress would be held from Friday July 8 to Sunday July 10, 2011.
