The Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a surprise visit to legendary gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong, in Kumasi.

News emerged recently that the "Wo haw Ne Sen' singer has been ill for awhile now and upon hearing the news of the singer's predicament, the Vice President, who is on a campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, seized the opportunity to visit the musician.

Yaw Sarpong is currently recuperating at the residence of popular Kumasi pastor, Prophet J.Y. Adu and Bawumia was accompanied by Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi and fellow gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong to the residence.

Announcing their mission to their hosts, Chairman Wontumi said he was recently informed by Nicholas Omane Acheampong about the Yaw Sarpong's ailment, so he (Wontumi) also informed Dr. Bawumia when he arrived in Kumasi.

"As soon as I told Dr. Bawumia about the situation Yaw Sarpong is in, he asked me to schedule a visit the next morning despite already having packed campaign schedules in the morning", Chairman Wontumi said.

In an emotional moment, Nicholas Omane Acheampong sparked a rendition of Yaw Sarpong's popular song "Wo Haw Ne Sen", a song which inspired one of the most popular social programmes on radio hosted by legendary broadcaster Afia Konadu on Peace FM.

Dr. Bawumia presented a cash of 100,000 cedis to support Yaw Sarpong who, in turn, expressed his profound gratitude to Dr. Bawumia.

Prophet J.Y. Adu also thanked and wished Dr. Bawumia well in his endeavors.
