Ghana To Get 5G In September- Communications Minister

Ursula Owusu Ekuful, Minister for Communications and Digitalization has confirmed that Ghana will get 5G internet connectivity in September 2024.

In an exclusive interview on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show on Wednesday, the Communication Minister noted that as part of the measures to have a seamless internet connectivity in Ghana, the ministry is working tirelessly to get a 5G network in Ghana.

Ghana currently runs a 4G internet connectivity which becomes slow and daunting, however, Ursula Owusu Ekuful added that redundant internet connectivity will be a thing of the past.

Currently, Ghana has been hit by a massive internet disruptions which the Ministry of Communications says will be resolved into full capacity within five weeks.

Speaking on the cause of the internet disruption, the minister could not ascertain the exact cause but quickly added that, there could be a landslide that crushed the internet cables resulting in the gruesome internet disruptions.

Talking about the loss of the connectivity, Ursula Owusu mentioned that her office is yet to value the quantum of money lost as a result of the internet disruptions.

In her closing remarks, she emphasised the need to have a 5G connectivity with multiple cable connections in order to prevent any future occurrence of internet disruptions.

"Ghana will get a 5G internet connectivity in September, 2024," she stressed.
