Majority Denies Change Of Leadership In Parliament; Says Report “Untrue”

Majority leadership in parliament has described as “untrue” reports making rounds of a possible reshuffle.

Earlier reports suggested that the ruling New Patriotic Party is set to make some significant changes in parliament.

Long-serving Member of Parliament and Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, according to the report, will be replaced by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the current Deputy Majority Leader.

The Report also said Frank Annoh Dompreh, the present Majority Chief Whip and MP Nsawam-Adoagyiri will be appointed as Deputy Majority Leader, while Habib Iddrisu, the current First Deputy Chief Whip will occupy the position of Majority Chief Whip, with Patricia Appiagyei as First Deputy Majority Chief Whip.

The position of Second Deputy Chief Whip, according to the report, is likely to be filled by Alex Tetteh Djornobuah, MP for Sefwi-Akontombra.

But the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu has told journalists the majority is not making any changes as speculated.

Peacefm Parliamentary Correspondent William Gentu, who covered the Press conference, quoted Hon Joe Osei-Owusu as saying "the publication going around is not true, it's false. The majority has not made any leadership changes nor contemplated making any changes to its leadership. Ignore any publication on that issue. We have confidence in the leadership.”
