Bawku Conflict: "We Should Do Something Extraordinary To End This Misunderstanding" - Akomea To Authorities

Nana Akomea has called for a ceasefire at Bawku in the Upper East Region.

The Bawku conflict has been agelong with the Kusasi people fighting the Mamprusis in fierce tug of war.

On Monday, January 22, 2023, it was reported that at least six people had been killed in a fresh attack in Bawku.

The victims comprising two males and four females were caught in a crossfire when a bus transporting passengers to a market in Binduri district was ambushed by gunmen who indiscriminately opened fire on the vehicle.

Discussing this disturbing news on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", Nana Akomea wondered why the Bawku conflict keeps resurfacing and why the people are not calling a truce.

He charged the relevant State authorities to intervene in the situation ensuring the two factions thrash out their differences.

Nana Akomea was optimistic and hopeful that the Bawku conflict could be resolved to bring about peace and stability in the area.

"We must sit down with both factions and find better ways to resolve the conflict...Because this Bawku conflict is over 50 years, so we should do something extraordinary to end this misunderstanding between the Kusasis and Mamprusis", he opined.
