Circulating Oath Swearing Video Was Taken Before 2020 Election - NDC's Agbesi Nutsu Clarifies

A member of the NDC’s Communications Team, Mr. Agbesi Nutsu, has disclosed that a viral video circulating on social media that shows some top hierarchical members of the opposition National Democratic Congress swearing an oath to remain loyal to the party was taken before the 2020 elections.

Mr. Nutsu, who himself was seen in the viral video, added that those seen in the video were members of the NDC who were trained ahead of the 2020 general elections.

Some National Democratic Congress (NDC) members have courted controversy after being seen swearing an oath not to betray their party ahead of the 2024 general elections.

A former sports minister, Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and leading members of the NDC were seen taking an oath.

But speaking on Okay FM's Ade Akye Abia programme, Mr. Agbesi Nutsu denied reports that the trending video was taken this year ahead of the 2024 elections.

"I was part of a team that trained some polling station agents at the party’s headquarters and had no idea about the oath after the training was done, but there was information that some of the trainees were going or had been compromised, so they were made to voluntarily swear."

"I swore an oath myself with a clear conscience as a leader and for the love I have for my party."

"However, there were about eight (8) agents who opted out and did not take part in the oath-taking."

I do not have any regrets and will do it again if I have the opportunity," he added.
