Dr. Bawumia Joins Weija Leprosarium For Surprise Christmas Lunch

There was much joy at the Weija Leprosarium Monday afternoon when the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia surprised cured lepers with a visit and a Christmas lunch together.

Dr. Bawumia, a dedicated patron of the Ghana Lepers Aid, is a familiar face at the Leprosarium over the years.

On important occasions such as his birthdays, he spends time with them and extends support to the Leprosarium.

Dr. Bawumia led a team to serve food to the the cured lepers and hit the dance floor with them.

The Director of the Weija Leprosarium, Father Andrew Campbell expressed the gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for his compassion towards the Leprosarium.

Father Campbell also thanked the Vice President for his constant love and support to them and lepers across the country.

While wishing them a Merry Christmas, Dr. Bawumia appealed to people not to shun lepers but continue show them affection stressing "they are part of us".

"I want to tell all Ghanaians that leprosy, as far us cured leprosy is concerned, is not contagious. It is not their fault that they contracted leprosy. Let us treat that fairly and and let us lover them", he urged.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia also presented 100 bags of rice and 100 cartons of assorted drinks to the Leprosarium.
