How Can You Effectively Represent Akuapem North In Parliament? - Kwesi Pratt 'Punches' Ama Dokua

Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has raised concerns over the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, crossing over to win the Okaikwei North New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary election.

The NPP held its orphan constituency primaries over the weekend and Nana Ama Dokua, who currently represents Akuapem North in Parliament, beat the former deputy chief executive of MASLOC, Alberta Afia Akoto, to become the parliamentary candidate for the Okaikwei North into the 2024 elections.

In the stead of Hon. Dokua, the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku, has been unanimously declared the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Akuapem North constituency.

But the Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has some questions for Hon. Nana Ama Dokua.

Speaking on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", Mr. Pratt wondered how possible can it be for Nana Ama Dokua to effectively work for the Akuapem North constituents now that she has been elected to represent another constituency.

Without suggesting anything in particular as to whether or not she should step down, Kwesi Pratt however found it contradictory to the laws of Ghana for a sitting MP to represent a different constituency while her tenure of office hasn't elapsed.

"How can you effectively represent them in Parliament today given the fact that it is left with more than one year before the elections? Within this one year, you will be working in another constituency...What should be the proper interpretation of this action?", he questioned.
