Ken's Performance In NPP Flagbearer Election May Be A Clamour For A 3rd force - Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt has expressed surprise over the results that Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong attained in the New Patriotic Party's presidential election.

The New Patriotic Party held its election on Saturday, November 4, electing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as their flagbearer.

However, the contest, which was dubbed 'showdown' saw his closest rival, Kennedy Agyapong put up an impressive performance by polling over 70,000 votes representing 37.41% as against Dr. Bawumia's over 100,000 votes representing 61.47%.

Mr. Pratt, speaking on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", was shocked that Kennedy Agyapong could pull such number of votes but admittedly stated that the votes are a reflection of the level of confidence Ghanaians have in him.

He noted that those who support Kennedy Agyapong are largely non-members of the New Patriotic Party but the ordinary Ghanaians like the traders, taxi drivers and so forth who believe he possesses qualities that would help the nation.

To Kwesi Pratt, Ken's performance has shifted the political paradigm, stating that "it may just be a reflection of the disillusionment of the population with regular politicians and regular political parties. It may just be a reflection of the clamour for a third force".

"Something has started in our politics which shows that the old way of doing things has to change. People are getting fed with what is traditional, what is normal," he stressed.
