Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, 'Chairman Wontumi' has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's assurance to help their party's flagbearer to win the 2024 presidential election.

He said the pledge by the president signifies a united front towards the election year. 

Chairman Wontumi as affectionately called in politics, however, questioned critics who are against the president's promise. 

"What is wrong about that," he questioned in an interview with NEAT FM's morning show, 'Ghana Montie'. 

He continued to say "there's nothing wrong with the President saying he'll do everything in his power to help Dr. Bawumia become President of Ghana." 

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who was elected as NPP's flagbearer ahead of the 2024 presidential election has received support from party kingpins. 

His main contender, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has also vowed to support his campaign to give the NDC a 'showdown' in 2024.
