Attack On UTV: Let's Be Temperate In Our Language And Behaviour - Opanyin Agyekum

Head of Linguistics at the University of Ghana, Professor Kofi Agyekum, has admonished all persons who speak on radio and Television to measure their utterances.

He advised them to note that the use of unprintable words is not accepted in mass communication.

Professor Kofi Agyekum, popularly called 'Opanyin Agyekum', gave this admonition while reacting to the attack on UTV by some NPP supporters on Saturday.

He condemned the attack and hoped the necessary disciplinary action will be meted out to the perpetrators.

However, he urged every individual who gets the opportunity to discuss matters in the media to watch his or her tongue ensuring he or she doesn't use invectives.

"It behoves us who speak on radio to use temperate language; communication that unites people and brings about development," he said on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show.
