Does NPP Belong To Akufo-Addo? - John Boadu Quizzes Alan

John Boadu has questioned claims that Alan Kyerematen has been treated unfairly since President Akufo-Addo went back on a promise he made to him (Alan Kyerematen) in 2008.

Mr. Kyerematen 'sacrificed' for Nana Akufo-Addo to be flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008. In view of this, the now President Akufo-Addo reportedly promised Alan Kyerematen that he’d become President after him.

The NPP faced accusations of unfair treatment towards Alan following his resignation.

Former General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu speaking to this questioned if the party belongs to President Akufo-Addo to be passed on or inherited.

"Is the party for Akufo-Addo for him to make a promise to hand over to him? It’s so disheartening and I’m so disappointed to hear this news. If you those who were given appointments in the government are complaining then what will we do? What’s the meaning of this? Did we join the party for what we’ll gain…it’s so annoying".

Alan's resignation

John Boadu who was speaking during an interview on Peace FM's 'The Platform' programme, dismissed the reasons given by Alan Kyerematen for his resignation as baseless.

" . . the reasons he gave were insufficient to justify his decision; unless there's something else he's not telling us. We should be real to ourselves. Just like any human institution, there'll be bad and good moments but the party has helped us. Indeed there are challenges in the party but those complaining are the wrong people. After 2008, all those making the noise now, how many of them were ready to defend the party? It was we the fools who defended the party . . . we didn't fight for any ministerial or other positions. I just don't understand . . . those who were given positions are now complaining. What's the meaning of this?" he questioned.
