Alan Has Never Been Sidelined; He Has Served In 14 Out of NPP's 16years In Govt. - Nana B

National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Henry Nana Boakye alias Nana B has refuted some claims made by Alan Kyerematen for which reason he has resigned from the party to spearhead a new political group he terms "Movement for Change".

The former Trade Minister and former NPP presidential hopeful, Alan Kyerematen announced his resignation at a press conference held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra on Monday, September 25.

According to him, the behavior of the leadership of the NPP towards him clearly indicates that his "services and contributions to the Party are not appreciated, and that my continuous stay in the Party will create further tension and division, which is an exact replay of circumstances that led to my decision to resign from the Party in 2008".

He stressed; "I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the NPP to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana as an independent presidential candidate."

Nana B Is A Newbie In NPP

Barely a day after that press conference, and in a subsequent interview on UTV's “Adekye Nsroma, the former NPP Presidential hopeful questioned the temerity of Nana B to comment on his decision to sever ties with the ruling party. To him, Nana B doesn’t qualify to be “talking big” because he is a relative new comer in the NPP.

This was after the host of the show, Yaa Konama had sought clarifications from the embattled former NPP member on attempts made by the NPP hierarchy to resolve his electoral concerns.

I talked to Nana B yesterday (Monday) and asked him what has been done about Alan’s withdrawing from the contest…was there an effort to talk to him to know his grievance? He said Chairman Ntim came to your office to have a discussion with you and that everything was okay”, Yaa Konama offered.

Clearly not enthused with the information said to have been put out by the NPP's National Organizer regarding the outcome his (Alan's) meeting with the party’s National Chairman, Mr Kyeremanten responded; “I don’t want us to wash our dirty linen in public…As a Chairman of the party, he should be careful with some of his utterances because I don’t want to come out in a way that will deepen the issues at hand,” and further issued a stern warning to Nana B to stay out of such matters; “That Nana B, when did he join the party for him to be talking anyhow? This is the reason why some people think I’m talking too much, but if what you’re saying is wrong, I will say it.

Alan Has Benefitted From NPP

But Nana B has punched holes in Alan's reasons for leaving the NPP, particularly the part to do with his services not being appreciated by the party.

He recounted that the NPP has been good to Alan since he joined, referencing Ex-President J.A Kufour making him an Ambassardor to United States and a Cabinet Minister and additionally, President Nana Addo appointing him as Trade Minister in his two terms in government.

"So, it can never be said that his services were unappreciated because for 16 years of NPP in government, he has had the opportunity to serve the NPP government for 14 years", Nana B maintained.

He however extended his well-wishes to Alan on his new endeavors.

"We wish him well", he said while speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, adding the New Patriotic Party remains united.
