Alan's Resignation From NPP Extremely Shocked Us - Nana Akomea

Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport Corporation, Nana Akomea says Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the New Patriotic Party comes as a shock to the party.

The NPP Presidential hopeful, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, affectionately called ‘Alan Cash’, on Monday, September 25 announced his decision to contest the 2024 election as an independent candidate.

"...under the circumstances, and given the context provided I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the NPP to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana as an independent presidential candidate," Alan said during a press conference.

His declaration has stirred public reactions with some people applauding him and others criticizing him for abandoning the NPP the second time since he did a similar thing in 2008 after accusing the party of mistreating him during its internal elections.

Reacting to this sudden news of Alan’s exit from the NPP, Nana Akomea stated that the NPP didn’t expect the former Minister of Trade to defect from the party despite his differences with them.

"What our big brother Alan Kyerematen disclosed yesterday shocked all of us. It really shocked us. Of course, no NPP member will not be happy that a bigwig in NPP like Alan Kyerematen will resign from the party and say he is going to compete with the party for power. This is something every member of the NPP who loves the party won't be happy about", he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” discussion show Tuesday morning.
