NPP Flagbearership: Alan's Withdrawal Is 'The Right Decision At The Right Time' - Titus-Glover

Former Member of Parliament for Tema West, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has commended Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen for withdrawing from the New Patriotic Party's impending presidential election.

Alan Kyermaten on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 announced in a press statement that he is "honourably withdrawing from the process that will lead to the Presidential Primaries to be held on the 4th of November 2023".

He premised his withdrawal on various reasons saying "after having carefully analysed the results of the said elections, it is absolutely clear to me from events leading to, during and after the elections, that the Special Delegates Conference was strategically and tactically skewed in favour of one particular Aspirant. The pronouncements made by some leading Members of our Party both before and after the elections, also lend weight to my observations".

He added; "The level of intimidation of varying intensity, directly and indirectly unleashed on a significant number of Delegates at various Voting Centers across the sixteen regions, is unprecedented in the history of our Party. In addition, the fact that my Polling Agent in the North East region has suffered severe damage to his eye sight, arising from his bold and courageous effort to ensure compliance with the very rules and regulations for the conduct of the elections as approved by the Presidential Elections Committee, will forever remain a dark spot in the history of internal elections within the Party. This incident and various acts of violence and collusion, reported in other Voting Centers, are appalling, unconscionable, and despicable."

Commenting on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" panel discussion programme, Hon. Titus-Glover said Alan has made the right call.

"He has taken the right decision at the right time. [1] To avoid spending money. [2] To avoid further disappointment on the 4th of November because the trend that this (Special Delegates Congress) went will be the same trend on the 4th of November."

Hon. Titus-Glover, who is a member of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign team, however assured that his team will reach out to Alan Kyerematen and his campaign team to support the candidacy of Dr. Bawumia emphasizing that "the fight is on the NDC and not among ourselves".

"Let's welcome all of them," he charged his team.

"Alan has a lot of knowledge and experience when it comes to party work and party mobilization. When you look at his sacrifices and work, he has paid his dues", he further applauded the former Trade Minister cum presidential aspirant.
