Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has expressed shock over revelations by Superintendent George Asare, a senior Police officer implicated in the plot to remove Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, that Bugri Naabu recommended the use of Mallams (spiritualists) to aid their efforts in removing the IGP.
Supt. Asare together with another senior officer, COP Alex Mensah and Bugri Naabu, a former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), are currently facing a Parliamentary Committee probing their plot which was captured on a leaked tape.
The Superintendent testified that Bugri Naabu proposed the involvement of three Mallams to help them in their mission.
In the private conversation, Naabu purportedly emphasized the need to fight the IGP both physically and spiritually.
Discussing the issue during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, Kwesi Pratt found it difficult understanding how spiritualists are now involved in choosing an Inspector General of Police.
"Mallam, Mallam, Mallam! Ghana Police, really, Mallam!! When Police in foreign countries are using technology to aid their work, our Police want Mallam...Alabraka!!!", he laughed heartily.
Mr. Pratt asked if the Police administration has no channels for addressing the concerns of their officers that they now have to resort to spiritual forces to resolve their grievances.
"Don't they have grievance resolution procedures in the Service? Why don't they use lawful ways to file their complaint if they feel the IGP has misconducted himself?", he asked.
