'When Majority Decides, Majority Decides...Respect The Delegates' Decision' - Kwabena Agyepong To NPP Presidential Aspirants

Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, an aspirant in Saturday's Special Delegates Conference of the NPP, says the outcome of Saturday's election results represents the majority votes of the delegates, therefore admits the party has decided on its top five candidates.

He urged all the aspirants to "respect the decision of the majority".

In an election many expected the contenders to give Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a run for his money, the Vice President won convincingly after polling 629 of the total votes of 961, leaving the 9 other contenders to share the rest of the votes.

The closest contender to Dr. Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, polled 132 votes, and Kwabena Agyepong, a former General Secretary of the party, polled 6 votes which weren't enough for him to make the top 5.

Reacting to the outcome of the election during an interview with Joy News, Mr. Agyepong said; "I am disappointed I couldn't make the cut but I accept the result. The party, the delegates have decided. And as someone who believes in majority rule, that's it. You have to respect the decision of the majority."

He urged his colleague aspirants to accept their fate stating "I am an internal democrat and I believe in majority rule. When majority decides, majority decides".

On the commanding victory of Dr. Bawumia and whether the rest should throw in the towel, Kwabena Agyepong responded it is up to the individuals involved to reflect and take a personal decision.

"We all have seen the results. The results are clear. The evidence is there. They (other aspirants) have personal decisions to make going forward."

"In politics, you have to be sometimes personal about what you want to do for yourself and for the good of the party. I think we should leave them to have their moments of reflection and then everybody takes a decision."
