'In Life, You Don't Just Get Rich' - Kwadaso MP Advises Ghanaian Youth Against Betting

Member of Parliament(MP) for Kwadaso constituency, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko has kicked against betting in the country.

According to him, people's addiction to betting causes deviant acts and other behaviours that don't help their growth and the development of the economy.

Commenting on the government's 10% tax on betting during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko subtly declared his support for the government action towards those who engage in betting but wished people stayed away from betting.

He advised those into betting to know that "in life, you begin somewhere and you end somewhere. You don't just become rich. You have to struggle through life. You struggle, fall and rise; one day, you shall get there".

The Government of Ghana has introduced a new tax of 10% on betting and lottery winnings, effective from Tuesday.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has outlined that this withholding tax will be automatically deducted at the point of pay-out for all betting, games, and lottery wins.
