NPP Race: Winning Special Delegates Conference Isn't Automatic You'll Be Flagbearer - Pratt Argues
Seasoned Journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. says any aspirant that comes out tops in the impending New Patriotic Party's Special Delegates Conference on Saturday, August 26, is not indicative that he will win the main flagbearer election in November.
The NPP will conduct a Special Delegates Conference to trim the number of candidates vying for the party's flagbearer position from ten to five and, in November, hold their main Conference where a flagbearer will be elected to lead the party into the 2024 elections.
The ten candidates comprise; Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen; Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong; former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong; former Agric Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto; former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko among others.
Commenting during Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' programme, Kwesi Pratt argued that, "becoming a winner in the Super Delegates Congress isn't automatic that you will win the real delegates congress that more than 200,000 people will be participating in it".
Further supporting his argument, he noted that the over 900 delegates going into the Special Delegates Congress are "very special delegates whose motivation may not be like the grass roots".
