Don't Hide Dollars in Your Homes . . . Send It to Bank! - Dr. Domfeh to Cecilia Dapaah, Others

Dr. George Domfeh, a Research Fellow at the Center for Social Policy, University of Ghana, has implore Ghanaians who have foreign currencies not to follow the footstep of the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who kept hers in her house.

Hon. Cecilia Dapaah has resigned as Minister after news broke that her house helps had stolen a million dollars from her house.

Critics raised questions about why a Minister would stash such huge money in her house resulting in her resigning from her post and subsequently being arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

“At 11:55 GMT on 24 July 2023, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who resigned from the position of Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources on 22 July 2023, was placed under arrest by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in respect of suspected corruption and corruption-related offences regarding large amounts of money and other valuable items reportedly stolen from her residence. Ms. Dapaah is being questioned by authorised Officers of the OSP,” the OSP released a statement on Monday, July 24, 2023.

Dr. George Domfeh has registered his displeasure with the Minister's act and advised every Ghanaian with dollars or any foreign currency sitting in the home to send it to the bank.

"Everybody who has hidden some under his or her mat should please send it to the bank," he said on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo'.
