'Only A Mad Man Will Not Reconsider His Decision' - CODEO To Dr. Appiahene, Hajia Salima

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has insisted on their call for the immediate resignation of Dr Peter Appiahene and Hajia Salima Ahmed Tijani from the Electoral Commission.

Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, a member of the CODEO Advisory Board, said "only a mad man" will not reconsider his decision while expounding on their position on the two EC appointees.

Dr. Fred Degbey scolded President Nana Addo for appointing and swearing in Dr. Peter Appiahene and Hajia Salima Ahmed who the group strongly believes have affiliations with the NPP.

"Why not choose people whose competence is clean, clear; whose political colours are not known and who can go there and do their work without anybody raising too many flags and throwing mud at them?" he stated.

He noted that allowing Dr. Appiahene and Hajia Ahmed to be on the Electoral Commission raises serious red flags.

"Can you consider stepping as a moral human being, as an intelligent person? Think about it! So, it's an appeal to the person or to the persons", he directed the message to two EC members.

When asked what CODEO's next decision will be should these persons remain on the Commission, Dr. Degbey replied; "One of our Judges said a long time, it's only a mad man who cannot change his mind...You've been appointed to do something and this backlash has come, think about it...We think they should be honorable enough to resign."
