The opposition parties in Nigeria, namely; PDP, LP and ADC have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu to step down with immediate effect to allow a more credible person to conduct a fresh presidential election.

Expressing their grievances at the result presented by the Independent National Commission at the National Collation Centre in Abuja monitored by Peacefmonline.com, the party described Saturday’s presidential election as a “sham”.

"This election is not free, and far from being fair or transparent. We have lost faith in the entire process."

The parties accused the INEC Chairman, Yakubu of failing to fulfil his promises made that the election results will be uploaded onto the Bimodal Verified Accreditation System (BVAS).

Several irregularities have been reported to have occurred during the voting process in various states -  this they believe has marred the election.
