NAPO Can Never Be Running Mate To Dr. Bawumia - Frances Essiam 'Fires' Energy Minister

It appears the beef between beleaguered Madam Frances Ewurabena Essiam, ex-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Limited (GCMCL) and Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is far from over, as the former has served notice of her intention to shoot down any future political ambitions of the latter.

To Frances Essiam, the Energy Minister lacks the political correctness to be considered as running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who in her estimation is the likeliest candidate to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the forthcoming flagbearer contest.

Reacting to her resignation as CEO of GCMCL, she said the role of NAPO as the sector Minister in her resignation makes him unfit to seek a higher office in Ghana, and vowed to lay bare the developments leading to her decision in the coming days for Ghanaians to know who NAPO really is.

"NAPO can never be running mate to Dr. Bawumia and I am going to address these issues at a press conference I will soon organise," she noted.

'Misdirection of Anger'

Madam Frances Awurabena Essiam resigned from her position as the CEO of GCMCL on Thursday, February 23, 2023, and was subsequently replaced by Madam Genevieve Sackey.

She blamed Dr. Opoku Prempeh and the Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo for her resignation and vowed to expose them.

But the Ministry mounted a strong defence for the sector Minister, describing Frances Essiam's recent action as misdirection of anger.

Bawumia Deserves Someone Better

Despite her resignation, Frances Essiam said she remains a committed member of the NPP and would campaign vigorously for Dr. Bawumia, saying that the Vice President deserves a better running mate than NAPO.
