Mammoth Reception For Bawumia In Kwahu Leaves No Doubt About Who's 'The People's Choice' To Lead NPP

If what happened at Kwahu Obomeng on Saturday February 18 is anything to go by, then there should be no doubt left on anybody's mind as to who the "people's choice" is as far as the upcoming NPP delegates election is concerned.

The occasion was the funeral of the late father of Eastern Regional NPP Chairman, Jeff Konadu, and expectedly, it attracted bigwigs of the NPP from near and far.

Present at the funeral was former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen, who is nursing an ambition to run for the upcoming NPP flagbearership, and the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

However, it was Dr. Bawumia who stole the show and enjoyed all the adulations at the funeral grounds, leaving tongues wagging.

Led by a number of NPP MPs, Dr. Bawumia's entry was grand and sparked a tumultuous welcome which surely would have sent shivers down the spine of other NPP flagbearership hopefuls.

In fact, Dr. Bawumia's entry completely overshadowed the presence of Alan Kyerematen and his entourage and it was not a surprise, therefore, that the former Trade Minister and his entourage were thought by many to have left the ground virtually without notice.

The funeral ground, understandably filled by NPP faithful with the chief mourner being the Regional Chairman of the party, chanted Bawumia’s name with songs endorsing him as the next leader of the party.

The chorus was so reverberating it left those present with no doubt about who is the people's choice for the NPP flagbearership.
