Making Accra Work Again: Members of My Own Party Are Sabotaging Me! - Henry Quartey Reveals

Henry Quartey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, says some members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are sabotaging his work in the Region.

The Minister initiated the "Let's Make Accra Work Again" to keep the capital city clean and free from indiscipline.

As part of this initiative, the residents including traders and hawkers whose activities are dirtying the city have been stopped from continuing the practice while those situated at wrong locations being relocated.

This project is seen by many of the residents and largely the population as a good initiative with the Minister being called upon by some people to be transferred to other Regions to replicate his good works there.

But for months now, the project has delayed compelling people to question the Minister's commitment to the "Let's Make Accra Work Again".

They wonder if the Minister has given up in his quest to combat the improper practices or not.

In an interview on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show Monday morning, the Minister has disclosed why the project is not progressing.

According to him, some members of his own political party are 'fighting' vigorously to ensure he fails.

"The President has never, on any day, told me that Henry, stop what you are doing. The Vice President has not, in fact, Office of the President has not but I will say that there is an internal sabotage from my own party. Yes! And that is what has led us to where we are," he revealed.

He added that the President and Vice President are "happy with what we are doing" but his main enemies are those of his own party, disclosing that these saboteurs have been going behind him to encourage the residents to continue their indiscipline, especially telling the traders who have been relocated to return to doing trade along the roadside or at the unauthorized locations.

"Internally, some people are sabotaging the work of Henry Quartey and I wonder whether it is for the good of the people of this country or for their own selfish interest", he reiterated.
