How Long Are We Going to Allow This? - Majority Leader on Adwoa Safo’s Absence

Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is wondering how long Parliament is wondering how many opportunities will be given to the Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo before declaring his seat vacant.

Adwoa Safo was 'saved' when the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin gave a ruling that the report of the committee set up to look into the case of the MP and two others who absented themselves for a number of sittings should be presented before the whole House to be debated.

This generated heated debate with the Majority leader insisting that the Speaker erred.

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu speaking in an interview on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' questioned "the Minority keeps asking for more time for her but for how long? till thy kingdom come?"

Minority for Adwoa Safo, Majority against

Addressing the perception that the Majority caucus is against Adwoa Safo and are determined to make sure her seat is declared vacant, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said "the majority only sides with the constitution".

"I support Adwoa Safo but I’m standing on the side of truth and not for any individual," he added.

Meanwhile, he has explained what led to the 'exchange of words' between him and the speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin.
