Galamsey Fight: We'll Keep Arresting Them . . . We Won't Give Up! - Dennis Miracles Assures

Dennis Miracles says President Nana Addo and his government have not lost the fight against illegal mining, particularly referred to as 'galamsey', as some people might want to think.

According to him, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have already suffered since it declared war against galamsey and will not back down on the fight.

He recounted that the party lost many parliamentary seats during the 2020 elections because of their unflinching effort to nip the menace in the bud and reassured that nothing will stop them in their pursuit to end galamsey.

Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Thursday's "Kokrokoo" edition on Peace FM, Dennis Miracles, the Director of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development at the Presidency, insisted "the fight against galamsey must continue unabated".

"As an NPP member, the reason I am so committed to this is that we have already suffered the consequences of the fight against galamsey, so I don't see why we should back down on it. Because we have even lost parliamentary seats because of galamsey, because of the fight against galamsey.

"For me, as a party person, I am convinced in my mind that the consequences of fight against galamsey, we have already suffered it, so we can't back out. Whether it is my Chairman, it is my constituency or whatever, we cannot suffer as a result of one person in the party. That one it cannot happen; the President has been very clear!", he asserted.

He assured the citizenry that no person involved in illegal mining, being it a member or supporter of the NPP nor politician, will be left off the hook.

"We will keep arresting them," he pledged.
