NDC Won't Cancel E-Levy Should They Regain Power - Sammi Awuku Tells Ghanaians

The implementation of the contentious e-levy remains pending as there is an ongoing tussle between the two major political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on whether or not the e-levy will help the nation.

The NDC is vehemently opposed to it arguing it will aggravate the hardships of Ghanaians.

The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia [General Mosquito], is quoted to have said the NDC will abolish the e-levy if it wins power in 2024.

He described this yet-to-be approved policy as daylight robbery.

“The fire will keep burning so long as we have a government that operates with impunity,” Aseidu Nketia warned.

In an interview on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'' Monday morning, the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku has advised Ghanaians not to buy into the words of the NDC, stressing they party is throwing dust into their eyes.

According to him, the NDC's claim to cancel the e-levy is falsehood.

''I don't think the NDC, should they come into power, will cancel the e-levy. They won't!'', he exclaimed.

Mr. Awuku urged the populace to rally behind the government to implement this electronic transaction tax as it is a panacea to Ghana's developmental challenges.
