NDC Commentators Boycott Job

Political commentators and serial callers of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region have refused to represent the party on radio stations, over what they say is the refusal of the party executives to give them incentives for their job. Close to three weeks now, the commentators and serial callers have abandoned their jobs, thus paving the way for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Peoples National Convention (PNC) to take over the airwaves. When the Chronicle spoke to some of the NDC commentators, they did not hide their frustration about the way they were being treated by their leaders and the Party. They claimed their colleagues in other parts of the country are given some kind of motivation, but they have been neglected. One of them cited how he had to use his own money to replace his worn out motorbike tyres to enable him travel to the radio stations to defend the party, and also engage in some other party activities, yet nobody reimbursed him with this money. According to him, their colleague NPP commentators still receive motivation from their leaders, even though the party is in opposition. The Upper East Regional Communication team of the NDC is led by Mr. Amos Awinzor, with others like Thomas Abiola, Paul Danka, Samuel Abaane, and Clement Akasoba. The serial callers include Babs, Monica Kons and Ibrahim. At the time of filing this report, a source among the commentators hinted that the National Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Richard Quashigah was meeting with the commentators and serial callers in Bolgatanga to resolve the impasse. Our source was optimistic that the issues would be resolved this week, to pave way for them to resume next week.
