NDC Will Not Expand Its Electoral College - Quashigah

The ruling National Democratic Congress says it has no plans to expand its electoral college. As the party gets ready for its July 8 congress, a pro Ekwow Spio-Garbrah group, Northern Friends of Spio-Garbrah, is calling for an expansion of its electoral college to include members at the polling station level. The group says an expanded electoral college will help check vote buying at the upcoming congress. Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Richard Quashigah however tells Citi News the party has not found it necessary to do so. He said there has been a discussion at the National Executive Committee (NEC) level and a decision has been taken not to increase the partys Electoral College. Mr. Quashigah however questions the rationale behind the proposal asking, Is this an NPP agenda that this group is pursuing? Because I know from our intelligence report that it is the NPP that sometime back attempted to whip up some sentiments on the ground so that the NDC would also expand its electoral college as they have done. I mean NEC has taken its decision already and this was done in consultation with the rank and file of our party so we do not see anything wrong with the approach that weve been adopting from time to time.
