Election 2020: Kudos To Ghana's Media; You Did A Yeoman's Job! - Mpraeso MP

Chairman of Parliamentary Defence and Interior Committee, Seth Acheampong has lauded the media in Ghana for their hard work and thorough coverage of the 2020 Presidential elections.

With the exception of few skirmishes resulting in the unfortunate death of about five persons, Ghana's elections will once again go into historic archives setting another memorable precedent as the country recorded peaceful general elections on Monday, December 7.

Incumbent President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been given the mandate to continue his administration.

He was declared President-elect by the Electoral Commission after polling 6,730,587 representing 51.30% while Mr. Mahama, contesting on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), lost the elections by 6,213,182 votes representing 47.35%.

The role of the media was very evident during the elections with the various media organizations giving in-depth and real-time reportage of events and the election results.

Contributing to Peace FM's flagship programme ''Kokrokoo'', Hon. Seth Acheampong was impressed by the work of the media.

He refuted accusations by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the media had skewed the results in favour of President Nana Akufo-Addo.

To him, the media showed unique fortitude to cover the elections.

''I applaud you Despite Media, Multimedia, Metro Television, TV3, GHOne TV and all media organizations'', he exclaimed.
