The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) has advised former President John Dramani Mahama to resort to the judicial system to seek redress if there is evidence of electoral fraud in the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

According to NALAG they are fully aware of the position adopted by the former President not to accept the outcome of the Presidential election as announced by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

“We do not doubt that given his democratic credentials he would not depart from the constitutional arrangements”.

Mr Bismark Baisie Nkum, President of NALAG made the call at a press briefing in Accra to congratulate Ghanaians on the successful conduct of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

On December 7, 2020, Ghanaians went to the polls to elect a President and 275 Parliamentarians to run the affairs of the governance for the next four years.

The people through polls successfully elected the incumbent President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to run the affairs of the country for a second term.

The association also congratulated the President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for securing the will of the people of Ghana to form and run the government of Ghana for another four-year term.

He said the mandate is a testimony of the goodwill of the people of Ghana towards policies and programmes the President and his government has implemented over the last four years, saying hos call on Ghanaians to give him four more years to do more has been granted.

He said it is therefore incumbent on the President-elect to justify the confidence reposed in him by implementing more policies and programmes that would inure to the benefit and general welfare of Ghanaians.

“Let the dreams and hopes of our people he achieved, we encouraged you to advance the course of industrialization which is way to processing our raw materials (Natural resources) to maximize our national wealth and stabilise the country,” he said.

Mr Baisie Nkum also congratulated the Electoral Commission (EC) for the professional and safe manner it has conducted this year’s even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said they wondered how the COVID-19 plague would allow for a smooth process saying the EC’s strategies worked to perfection.

He said the voting process did not experience the usual long queue at the polling stations, saying COVID-19 protocols were duly observed.

Mr Baisie Nkum equally congratulated the security agencies and the media for the professional manner they conducted themselves throughout the period.

He said the security agencies timely presence at the polling stations, particularly in most flashpoints across the country as well as the professional reportage of the media of the electoral process.
