Nana Akufo-Addo Declares Volta Decider For 2012

IN SPITE of the meager fortunes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta region, the party�s flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo has declared that the party�s performance in the region will be a major decider of its victory in the 2012 general elections. �We are able to maximize our votes here, change the voting pattern and narrow the gap between us and the National Democratic Congress in the Volta region; come what may, NPP will win the elections in 2012 and respond to the many cries of the region and country at large to transform the fortunes of the country.� Nana Addo disclosed this in Ho following a closed door meeting with regional executives, constituency chairmen and secretaries as well as parliamentary aspirants (both winners and losers) to unite them and urge them to be fully prepared for next year�s elections. The meeting is part of a nationwide tour dubbed �All Hands on Deck.� In his brief interaction with the media he commended the regional and constituency executives for their commitment and efforts in championing the party�s cause in the Volta region and urged them to keep it up. He said: �I am happy about the enthusiasm and determination by the executives to change the voting pattern in the region�.that is a good sign and if that is kept till the end of the race, NPP will surely came back to power.� Nana also expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the just ended parliamentary elections and hoped the remaining ten constituencies who were not able to vote due to certain uncontrollable circumstances will have a successful election like the others. In reaction to the various skirmishes in the Ketu North and North Tongu constituencies he said such occurrences are normal and that the national executives will ensure that those issues are satisfactorily addressed. Even though the four and half hour meeting was held behind closed doors, Daily Guide gathered that the flag bearer appealed to the defeated parliamentary aspirants to support the victorious ones to harness more votes for the party. He admonished the regional and constituency executives to ensure a cordial relationship with other executives, all party delegates and members in order not to give the NDC the chance to chastise them of being divided. He also cautioned them against the misuse of party funds and equipment meant for party activities saying �the NPP is not for one person but for all of us.� Also in attendance was the party�s National Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, the Director of Election and Research, Martin Adjei Korsah and Frema Opare, the MP for Ayawaso West.
