A presidential aspirant of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, has likened the contest against President Mills for the flagbearer position in the impending NDC�s presidential primaries to that of the biblical David who faced-off with the Philistine giant, Goliath. Dr. Spio-Garbrah also considers himself to be the Sandana Ali in the Holy Quran. The former Vice-Chairman of the NDC who was speaking in an interview with OkayFM 101.7 during the station�s mid-morning bulletin at 10, pointed out that just as the shepherd David inconceivably annihilated the gigantic Philistine, so he has offered himself for battle against the Goliath of lies, deceit and treachery within the NDC. To him, President Mills is the Goliath of lies and deceit. �The Muslims here will know about Sandana Ali in the Koran�Spio Garbrah is the Sandana Ali in the Koran�And on this occasion, Spio is the David in the Holy Bible who at a time when his country, the Israelites, were faced with a major opponent from the Philistines; and today we are faced with the Goliath of lies and deceit, the Goliath of deception and treachery within the NDC, the David came from the bushes. He was not even among those who were supposed to fight; just as I am in London and people wouldn�t have expected me to be part of this struggle. But the David who was in the bush that nobody thought would fight, was the one who came forward�,� he stated. He added that in the same way David sought permission from the then Israeli King Saul, so he also paid a courtesy call on ex-president Rawlings and to seek his consent to go against �Goliath� on the battle field.
