I Tested Positive For COVID-19 - Bawumia's Spokesperson

Technical Advisor to the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Gideon Boako has revealed on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'' that he tested positive for COVID-19.

Dr. Gideon Boako made this disclosure while discusssing issues regarding COVID-19 and President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo's 15th nation update on the pandemic disease.

He told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that when he realized he had symptoms similar to COVID-19, he called his doctor and tested for the disease, which subsequently came out positive.

According to him, his condition wasn't acute but he suffered some slight fever and once he got to know he had been infected by the virus, he immediately embarked on a self-isolation at home till he recovered.

He further added that none of his family members or persons he lived with in his home tested positive.

He advised Ghanaians not to joke with the disease saying it is possible that some people have the disease but not showing symptoms, therefore the need for all and sundry to practice the health protocols to prevent the virus infection.

''I recovered somewhere last month. It's a disease that no one should joke with. I was inactive for about three weeks to one month because of COVID-19. When some get the virus, they suffer acute and severe situations, I didn’t experience that. My sense of taste and smell were not affected but I tested positive....Until I contracted the disease, sometimes the tendencies are there. You're likely to gross over a few things. I don't know where I contracted it because I had felt that I had followed all the safety protocols...It's something that people should not toy with'', he said.
