We're Prepared For Whatever Fire Rawlings Will Spit Out On June 4 - Baba Jamal

A Deputy Information Minister, Baba Jamal has stated that there is nowhere in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constitution that stipulates that anyone who wants to contest any position in the party must pay homage to the partys founder for his blessings. His comment comes after Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings and Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah paid homage to former President Rawlings as founder of the NDC to ask for his blessings after picking their nomination forms to challenge President Mills in the partys presidential primary scheduled from July 8-10 in Sunyani. President Mills, for instance, after picking his nomination forms to seek re-election as the partys flag-bearer went straight to his campaign office to launch his campaign without the blessings of the former president. Speaking on Asempa FM programme on Tuesday, Baba Jamal explained that no member of the party is under any obligation to seek the blessings of the partys founder before contesting any position. According to him, respect is reciprocal which must be demonstrated by the people involved. The Deputy Information Minister stressed that President Mills remains incorruptible and not perturbed by what he claimed are baseless accusations being leveled against him, adding that we are talking about a President who honesty and sincerity is a way of life for him. He noted that they are prepared for whatever fire former President Rawlings has to spit out on June 4. Meanwhile, former President Rawlings whilst addressing some NDC supporters who accompanied Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah to his house accused the Mills campaign team of vote buying and intimidating supporters of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings just to secure victory for President Mills.
