The National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku says closing schools is not an option.

According to him, he is “convinced that the children will be safe in school rather than being at home because the government has put in place all the necessary measures to curb the spread of the disease”. 

“And what shows one cannot contract the virus whiles at home…The virus is around everywhere because if your parent sells in a market and comes across 100 customers daily before she goes home, such a person becomes more exposed to their children than in school. The infection in schools could also be the student carry the virus from home to the school or they got it in school.  It means we all can expose our kids to the disease. That is why all of us must take care of ourselves; so we do not carry the virus around,” he further said on UTV late News.
