NPP Sets Up Reconciliation Committees After Primaries

General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu says the party has set up reconciliation committees across the regions to address all issues that might have come up during their primaries last Saturday.

According to him, there is no time to waste as the party has almost concluded on its parliamentary primaries.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that with the exception of Kwadaso constituency where primaries were postponed, all the regions had successful primaries.

But he said discussions have concluded on Kwadaso, so hopefully by Thursday they will be able to conduct the Kwadaso primaries.

He, however, added that the party is yet to receive a petition from aspirants who might not be satisfied about the results or otherwise.

He, however, expressed his appreciation to party faithful across the regions who saw to the successful organization of the primaries, adding that they have once again demonstrated that the party is indeed a democratic one.

NPP Condemns Altercations during primaries

However, the National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Freddie Blay has expressed his sincere appreciation to all contestants and delegates for their efforts in seeing to the successful organization of the just ended 2020 NPP Parliamentary Primaries in most constituencies where the party has Members of Parliament.

"The contest has demonstrated the vibrancy and attractiveness of the NPP. As we conclude this phase of our internal parliamentary elections, I will urge all contestants who won to be magnanimous in their victory celebrations and those who lost to be gracious in accepting their losses and personal setbacks, the NPP and our country Ghana remain the ultimate winners," he said in a statement.

He also urged contestants who may still have disagreements and complains about the process to activate the Party’s laid down procedures for redress and reconciliation.

"As a party, let us all endeavor to guard against giving ammunition to our opponents, for vicious and character assassinating attacks."

According to him reported cases of altercations in a few polling stations are unacceptable and the party strongly condemns that.

Prez Akufo-Addo's acclamation

Touching on the acclamation of the party’s flagbearer for the 2020 general elections, he explained that the party will meet on Saturday, June 27 at the Alisa hotel to have the acclamation done.

The flagbearer will in turn announce his running mate which will be decided on by the National Executive Committee of the party.
