No Show At Sakawa Killers Trial

The expectations of residents of Sunyani to see the killers who beheaded the 12-year-old boy were yesterday shattered following the inability of the police to present the three suspected killers in court. Residents who spoke to Daily Guide on Friday morning said they were disappointed that the trial couldnt take off, contrary to media reports. However, the police have assured the public that come what may, the three suspects would make their first appearance in court on Monday. The Brong Ahafo Regional Crime Officer, Police Superintendent Eric Amoako, told a section of the press that the police had to make follow-up investigations to gather fresh evidence on the case. According to him, a team of investigators would today embark on a trip to the crime scene and other places to gather more information about the callous incident. The suspects, Sumaila Yahaya, 32, Yaw Fosu, 28 and Akwasi Kuma aka Mom Amie, 48, are suspected to have conspired and beheaded 12-year-old Kwame Amoah at Bompa at the Atebubu-Amanten District of the Brong Ahafo Region. Sumaila Yahaya, the prime suspect, was first seen with the severed head at the residence of a Techiman-based spiritualist, Mallam Musah Bamba, on Friday, May 6, 2011, when he attempted to use the severed human head for rituals to get rich quick. Luck however run out for him after the spiritualist alerted the police, leading to his arrest. After thorough investigations and intelligence work, Sumaila named his two accomplices and one Alidu Wala at Apoma, a farming community in the Kintampo South District, as those who gave him the human head. Wala is now at large. Last Tuesday, the Kintampo Municipal Police Commander, Edmund Owusu Boampong, led a team of investigators to Bompa, where the decomposing headless body of 12-year-old Kwame Amoah was found. The police also effected the arrest of the two accomplices at the same village.
