'Kokrokoo' Is A Holy Institution; Baptized 'Ordinary People' Into Great Leaders - Allotey Jacobs

"'Kokrokoo' is a holy institution" that has churned out great leaders in Ghana was the parting words of Bernard Allotey Jacobs to listeners as he strangely pulled out of PeaceFM's flagship programme following the National Democratic Congress' threat to boycott the station.

The National Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) issued a statement instructing "all its Communicators, Media Monitors, and Officials" to "refuse any invitations and/or interviews" from Peace FM's Morning Show production team effective Wednesday, 6th May, 2020.

The party said their "decision has been occasioned by the unfair paneling system that the Production Team of that program has continuously foisted on the NDC over a number of months. Specifically, the reason for this boycott has to do with the unreasonable decision of the Producers and Host of the program to permanently reserve one (1) of the two (2) slots the party has traditionally had on Wednesdays on the show to Mr. Allotey Jacobs, who is often introduced by the host of the program as a “Social Commentator with strong leanings to the NDC”, ostensibly to spite the NDC".

" . . In protest to this flagrant disregard for fairness by the Host and Production Crew of the program, the National Communication Bureau of the NDC has decided to cease the placement of party communicators on the “Kookrokoo” show forthwith.''

The NDC also described the host and his team as a "dictator" with his "poodle".

The party's leadership subsequently suspended Allotey Jacobs as a member of the party.

A statement purportedly signed by the NDC’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, on May 6, 2020, said Allotey Jacobs was suspended based on what it termed as ''persistent anti-party conduct'' and ''pursuant to Article 46 (1) and 46 (6) and 46 (8) (b) of the Party’s constitution''.

Allotey's physical presence in the Peace FM's studios  Wednesday morning, May 13, 2020 was missed but his voice was indeed alive.

Speaking in an interview on the programme, the NDC bigwig reminisced about the invaluable contributions of Mr. Sefa Kayi to the political fortunes and success stories of some individuals in the country, for which he (Allotey) and many members of the NDC have benefited from.

"Kokrokoo is a holy institution that has baptized a lot of ordinary people and have turned them into great men in this country," he said.

Allotey Jacobs encouraged Kwami Sefa Kayi not to allow the NDC's boycott to affect his great personality and good works saying "It won't be because of Allotey Jacobs that the very host of Kokrokoo should be sacrificed. So, keep your sanctity and let people appreciate what Kokrokoo is doing for mother Ghana. It is not for any political party. It is Ghana first . . . "Peace FM is part of my success".
