You’re Not Even An Inch Close To Nana Addo’s Track Record – Mame Yaa Aboagye Chides Mahama

Deputy Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mame Yaa Aboagye says former President John Dramani Mahama’s track record is characterized by bribery, corruption and gross incompetence.

According to the outspoken NPP Deputy Communications Director, Mahama cannot compare his achievements to President Akufo-Addo’s 3 years in office.

Addressing the nation in a digital conversation, former President Mahama lamented about failures of the Akufo-Addo government to address the health system in Ghana.

Former President Mahama challenged President Nana Akufo-Addo to prove his track record since coming into power.

According to him, the President has abandoned several hospitals that he (Mahama) constructed while in office.

But to set the record straight, Mame Yaa Aboagye cited some uncompleted health projects the Akufo-Addo administration inherited and has completed which include:

1.     Construction and Equipping of 10 Polyclinics in the Central Region which are located in the following towns; Besease, Gomoa Dawurampong, Biriwa, Sunkwa, Birempong Agya, Gyamera, Mankron, Ekumfode, Ekumfi Naakwa and Gomoa. These projects were initiated by the NDC in 2016 but were completed by NPP in 2018.

2.     Upgrade and Rehabilitation of Tamale Teaching Hospital. Phase 2 of this project began in 2015 and was supposed to be completed in December 2018. It has duly been completed by NPP and commissioned by Health Minister.

3.     Construction and Equipping of 597 Bed UG Medical Centre. JM couldn’t complete even the Phase 1 of this project but the NPP inherited, completed and operationalized it. NPP have also secured funding for Phase 2 which is ongoing. Project expected to be completed and fully operationalized by October 2020.

4.      Construction of Offices and Ministry of Health Headquarters. This was inherited and completed by NPP. The ministry has now be relocated into its new headquarters close to the NHIS headquarters at Ridge.

5.     Expansion of Radiotherapy Medical Services at Korle Bu and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospitals.

“All this project was abandoned before we assumed office, but funding’s were rearranged for the projects to be resumed and completed by NPP government”, she said.

Mame Yaa therefore asked Mr. Mahama to stop comparing his “scandalous” regime to the current administration because he is nowhere close to the President’s achievements.

“What have Mahama and NDC to compare? By the way, Ghanaians are the best judges come general elections 2020. We know you desperately want to come back which is mission impossible yet you can do better.

Of course, JM is ahead of Nana Addo in terms of gross incompetence, indecision, bribery and corruption such as Kanazoe ford bribe, bus branding scandal, GYEEDA, SADA etc...Your green book is an evidence of your incompetence. Forget 2020 because you have already lost”, she further stated.

She added; “The question we should all begin to ask is do Ghanaians want stagnation, not progress, high inflation, the unemployed graduate’s association, not NaBCo, no nursing allawa, no free SHS, Corruption and bribery, that’s what we had under the leadership of Mr. Mahama. We are not turning back to the past of stagnation and no achievements. We are moving forward and there is no turning back”.
