Bono Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe also called Abronye DC says he has not been served with a writ following his comments on the fraud charges against former Chief Executive of COCOBOD, Dr. Stephen Opuni.

According to him, his attention has been drawn to a Ghanaweb publication about a defamation of character against Dr. Opuni but there is no order summoning him before court as peddled around.

Dr. Stephen Opuni has filed a suit against Abronye DC seeking 10 million cedis in general damages for accusing him of embezzlement.

Also joined in the suit is U2 Company Limited, owners of United Television (UTV) and the Despite Media Group, all based in Accra.

Abronye had alleged on UTV that the National Democratic Congress doesn’t like a private firm, Kroll and Associate; because its forensic audit discovered an amount of $106 million belonging to COCOBOD was with an NDC financier Seidu Agongo. 

The maverick politician further claimed the firm also discovered “an amount belonging to Ghanaians worth $420 million is with Opuni”.

Abronye DC expressed distaste over the content of the publication on Ghanaweb saying it’s “so frivolous and vexatious“.

A statement issued by him and copied to Peacefmonline.com read; “My attention has been drawn to a Ghanaweb publication that one Dr Stephen Opuni who is facing 29 charges for allegedly defrauding the state with the tune of $420,million dollars has initiated civil action against me ,claiming an amount of 10,000 million cedis for defamation of Character in respect of Kroll and Associates forensic audit report of which reference was made to the said document or report which has indicted Opuni and Seidu Agongo concerning their activities at Ghana COCOABOD during UTV discussions segment on the day in question. 

Even though, I have not been served with the writ of summons, the allegations stated in the publication are so frivolous and vexatious that , the plaintiff in the said action just want to hide in court to prevent people from commenting on his alleged fraudulent deals at Ghana COCOABOD, an action that could be best described as (Communist Inferior Tactics civil suit).”

Any dolt who is served or confronted with such frivolous writ of summons would definitely have a defence, an indication that a sensible person like me will mount a serious defence in this suit. The “IPse Dixit” of Nana Yaw Sarfo Marfo would be tendered in Court. 

Mr Seidu Agongo is pursing the same “Pari material” against me at the Sunyani High Court. 

Those close to him should tell him that , God willing tomorrow between the hours of 8am-9am , I will be at Net 2 Tv ,the court bailiff (s) are at liberty to effect service on me at Oman fm or Net2 Tv. And I hope that, after establishing my “Ex post Facto” in the case , the principle of “Actori incumbit onus probandi” would be applied.
