A key member of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Joseph Boakye Danquah, has cautioned the executives of his party to ensure they provide a level playing field as they prepare to organise internal primaries to elect parliamentary candidates who would represent them during the 2020 general elections.

His caution, comes on the back of President Akufo-Addo's counsel to the NPP to stay united and get into the 2020 general elections with a single purpose and focus.

And according to Mr. Joseph Boakye Danquah who is seeking to represent the people of Subin on the ticket of the NPP, it would be prudent for the executives of his party "not to involve themselves in trying to favour one candidate over the other or a group of candidates over the other."

The consequence of engaging in such unfair act in his view, would lead the party into a slippery slop that could harm their fortunes in the 2020 general elections.

JB Danquah proposed that in solving the problem he has raised, "the solution is not to protect people but the solution is to have free and fair elections".

He added that "In a democracy, you can't call on people to protect certain people when it comes to elections, elections must be opened for all to contest. If any MP is doing his or her work well, they shouldn't fear an election."

The NPP stalwart explained that having a free and fair elections would benefit the NPP more and noted that "if any candidate loses, the person would know that he or she lost fairly. There wouldn't be rancor that creates divisions".

He also called on all aspirants to obey and follow the rules of the party and admonished them to treat each other with respect.

He lastly opined that "the guiding principle to delegates is not to vote for candidates with the most money but rather, for someone who would help the country and party to develop."
