New Parliamentary Chamber: I'm Dissappointed In Minority MP's - Manhyia MP

Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North constituency in the Ashanti Region, Collins Owusu Amankwah says he is surprised and highly disappointed in members of the minority in parliament for hastening to the public domain over the 450-seater parliamentary chamber proposal yet to be discussed on the floor of the house.

The MP explained that members of the house are yet to be briefed on the issue.

"It is too early for citizens to criticize MP’s as being wicked when it is the minority who have in a rush discussed the matter in the public domain to paint the current government black," he noted.

He further added that it will not and has never been the priority of President Akufo-Addo and his government to build a new parliament when other pressing issues in the country need immediate response.

" . . Indeed it has never been the priority of this President and his government to build a new parliament house, therefore that impression should not be created in the public domain. The matter as it stands rest with the Parliamentary Service Board but it will soon be discussed on the floor of the house for proper understanding of the project,” he added.

Collins Owusu Amankwah on UTV’s late news programme said he will not be part of a category with the idea of building a new chamber with funds from the nation’s coffers because his greatest worry and precedence as an MP now is to provide my constituents with better roads”.
