The EMT Is Not An Ordinary Club; Neither a Football Club Nor a Singing Group - Prof. Joe Amoako Tuffour

The Secretary to the Economic Management Team (EMT), Professor Joe Amoako Tuffour introducing the members of the Economic Management Team in its maiden Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday March 3, 2019 jabbed critics that the EMT is not an ordinary club.

According to him, every issue brought to the attention of the Economic Management Team is resolved and not left hanging if the means are immediately available; thus experts of both local and foreign from the private sector and universities are engaged where there are no immediate solutions.

“There is no issue that goes unresolved or hanging. Where there are no immediate solutions, EMT often initiates research work among interested parties; we invite experts, local and foreign from private sector and universities to inform deliberations, most of them pro-bono,” he indicated.

He mentioned that as an instrument of governance, the Economic Management Team always communicate the outcomes of their deliberations directly to the ministries, departments and agencies on specific things they have to do and also make recommendations to Cabinet for further Cabinet action.

“As an instrument of governance, EMT communicates the outcomes of their deliberations in two ways: by a decision that goes directly to the ministries, departments and agencies with the specifics of what has to be done and also recommendations to Cabinet for further Cabinet action,” he mentioned.

Professor Joe Amoako Tuffour again averred that the Economic Management Team has a delivery unit that follows up on most of the archives sent to the various places of the MDAs; reiterating that the EMT is not an ordinary club.

“We have a delivery unit that follows up on most of these archives. Clearly the EMT is not an ordinary club; it is not a football club or for that matter any singing group. They don’t sit down twiddling their thumbs with incantations hoping that problems will go away; they solve them,” he chided.
