Manasseh's Exposé 'Empty' . . . Minority’s Response 'Baseless' - Edmund Kyei

The ruling New Patriotic Party's 1st Vice Chairman for Asokwa constituency, Edmund Kyei says Manasseh Azure’s exposé has no credible facts after describing it as “empty”.

The NPP man said he together with some bigwigs in the NPP “wasted their precious time” to watch “what Manasseh claimed to be an exposé.”

“This is too cheap for an undercover job,” he said in a statement to Peacefmonline.com.

Joy News led by Manasseh Azure Awuni reported that a militia group associated with the governing New Patriotic Party [NPP] is being trained at the Christiansbourg Castle, popularly called the Osu Castle in Accra.

Manasseh claimed in his report that the group named 'De-Eye Group' has been meeting at the facility for close to two years – an aver he is yet to prove.

Manasseh’s exposé has, however, compelled the minority in parliament to call on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consider resigning from his position since he was artful in his attempt to disband vigilante groups during his State of Nation Address.

But Edmund Kyei in a statement said the minority call is “baseless” and a “cheap politics”.

“With due respect to the minority, I will rather advise them to desist from this kind of cheap politics, it seems like they have turned into press conference brigade, anything the minority hears they will try to organize a press conference, your job as a minority is to do constructive criticism not to waste previous time of the working Ghanaian,” the statement read.

If most Ghanaians were able to watch the over hyped documentary telecast on Joy television by Manasseh Azure Awuni you will bear with me that he wasted our precious time.

How can you call recruiting agency a militia group? A militia is generally an army or some other fighting organization of non- professional soldiers, citizens of a nation, or subject of a state who can be called upon for military services... Wikipedia.

If you watch the footage they weren't training with weapons or any martial arts and about 40% are females, and in Ghanaians culture you will normally not find females engaging in vigilantism.

This morning Secretary of the EYE group Ms Tracy Asamoah was interviewed and she stated they are employment agency that facilitates the recruitment of their members into openings in government through lobbying and provides other services, so she further stated categorically the president knows nothing about their activities even though their boss is a former bodyguard of then candidate Akufo-Addo.

With due respect to the minority, I will rather advise them to desist from this kind of cheap politics, it seems like they have turned into press conference brigade, anything the minority hears they will try to organize a press conference, your job as a minority is to do constructive criticism not to waste precious time of the working Ghanaian.

The place which are minority classifying as security zone is no more a security zone since the seat of government is no more a restricted area, people nowadays use the castle for public functions like outdooring and engagement so we can't call the place a security zone anymore.
